"What are you prepared to do about it?" That was the question that Sean Connery asked Kevin Costner in the movie the Untouchables in which Costner plays the legendary Treasury agent, Eliot Ness and Connery played the aging, tough and streetwise beat cop Jimmy Malone. If you like movie lines to quote this one has some. But every time I here someone ask that question, or anything close to it, I think of the scene of that film. But I do want to ask you that same question in light of you becoming the person that God created you to be. I have found that most of us that follow Jesus are falling short of being what we could be, should be, what Jesus wants us to be for Him. So, once we realize this, we have to ask ourselves, what are we prepared to do about it? Maybe you feel that you're living up to full potential in Christ Jesus, then you probably don't need to read this. But if you have felt as though there is more that you should be for Jesus, or that there is more to your life than what you're experiencing then read on. We have been saved from sin and death and suffering an eternity in the pit of hell, for what? So that we can live ordinary lives? I don't believe that! We are the object of God's affection and the recipients of the overwhelming saving grace of Jesus Christ! We are His church triumphant! But unfortunately we seem to have forgotten that we are more than conquerors that Romans 8:37 speaks of, instead we seem to be the conquered. At every turn the believers seem to have been gripped by fear. We're afraid to proclaim the truth of Jesus life, death and resurrection. We seem to be afraid to stand for the right! We are being outargued, and shouted down by those who have been deceived by Satan and have become his puppets. So, what are you prepared to do about it? Edmund Burke said, "all that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." We are the good men and women that the world needs, that Christ has empowered with His resurrected presence. Will it be difficult? Absolutely! Will the enemy put up a fight? Without a doubt! Will the culture reject and ridicule us? Yes! But that is the path we are called to walk. Following Christ isn't about Church buildings or liturgies, carpets and vestments! It is not about bulletins or hymns or worship styles and praise bands. Following Christ is about going where He leads. It's about taking the fight to the enemy. Being a follower of Christ is about being a believer in the Word of God and being able to wield it everyday like a sword to defeat the enemy's lies and to bring conviction to those resistant to God's call to be saved. Being a follower of Christ means that the world will hate us as it did Jesus. It is time to ask yourself what you're prepared to do to defeat the enemy and live up to the greatness of Christ Jesus within you.
