Watch Where You Step!

"Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." Ephesians 5:15-17

The Word of God never ceases to amaze me! There are those that are always crying, "the Bible just isn't relevant in our world today." But that simply is not the case. Much of the time, I think the Bible is the only thing that is relevant in the world. Why? Because it is truth. It is not simply a book containing some truth, it is truth. Jesus told Pilate that He had come to testify to the truth. That truth is God's Truth, the Word of God. Why would God give us this great treasure? The answer is, because He wanted us to be able to navigate the rough, and at times murky waters of this world. You see, God didn't want us to just live life taking the chance that we might stumble through and make it to Him by happenstance. No, God gave us the Bible to be a light in the dark. It is truth in a world of lies. It is water in drought ridden nations. It is a warm fire in a cold existence. It is a weapon to vanquish the enemies which would seek to destroy us. It is armor to protect us. It is a the Word of God in a world with too many words that hold no meaning.

Needless to say the Word of God is important, because the written Word directs us to the Living Word, which is Jesus Christ the Savior of the world, the only begotten of God the Father.

And because we have the Living Word, Jesus, living within us, and the written Word, the Bible, to study God the Father made it possible for us to walk carefully in this dark and evil world. We do not have to fall victim to the snares that the enemy sets to trap us. We can live understanding what the will of God the Father is because He has given it to us through His Son Jesus and through the Word, both have a cleansing effect upon our life. We cannot help but get some of the muck and mire of this world on us as we live in it. Like a little child who enters into the house with all the dirt and mud of the outside on him, his clothing, his shoes and body. The first thing mom does is place the child in a bath tub to be scrubbed and washed, so as not to allow the dirt to infect his bed, food and all the areas of the house and affecting those who live in the house with him. The Word of God does the same thing in our lives. Paul continues to write to the Ephesians in verses 26-27 describing that very thing, "so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless." Christ sanctifies His Church the Bible. Let me ask you, would cleanse your body without a bar of soap or body wash? Of course not! Neither can you be cleansed without the cleansing agent of the Word of God applied by the Holy Spirit of God.

What are the things or the people who are keeping you from washing on a regular basis with the Word of God? Don't let the dirt and filth of having to operate and live in this world infect every area of your life. Wash yourself in the Word of God which will cleanse you and leave you spotless, holy and blameless.
